Overview
Letter-sound knowledge (the ability to match letters to sounds) is a key early literacy skill that prepares young children for school success. By promoting letter-sound knowledge in young children (3—5), adults help them “break the code” of written language and set the stage for learning to read and write.
This poster serves as a colourful reminder the Four S’s strategy from Hanen’s ABC and Beyond™ Program: Show the letter, Sound it out, Stress the sound and Find one like it. This strategy helps educators support children to match letters and sounds throughout the day.
