Be the superhero in your child’s early learning

As a parent, you have the power to have the greatest impact on your child’s early language, social and literacy skills. Whether your child has a language delay/disorder, needs help with their social communication, or is developing typically, The Hanen Centre™ has programs and resources to support you. 

Our Research Base

All Hanen Programs and resources for parents are based on research that shows that young children learn to communicate best when they’re having enjoyable, extended interactions with their parents and other important people in their lives. Research also shows that, with the right support, parents can learn to encourage interaction and use powerful language-building strategies during everyday activities and conversations with their child, and that this helps their child’s communication improve. 

The goal of all Hanen Programs and resources is to help you play a starring role in your child’s learning – and to do so during natural, everyday moments in which you’re connecting and having fun together.

Hanen Programs

Hanen Programs are offered by speech-language pathologists (SLPs) around the world who’ve received special training and certification from The Hanen Centre™. These programs bring small groups of parents together (either in-person or online) to learn how they can build their child’s communication or social skills during natural, everyday situations.

Hanen Certified SLPs

Hanen Certified Speech-Language Pathologists may lead Hanen Programs, but they may also support parents to learn Hanen strategies during 1-1 therapy sessions. When you choose a Hanen Certified SLP for your child, you’re choosing a professional who knows how to best support and collaborate with you so you can play a leading role in your child’s intervention.
