Overview
Vocabulary in the preschool years is one of the greatest predictors of later literacy success. When using book reading to help children learn new vocabulary, educators must make new words stand out so that the children attend to and remember them and, in time, use them on their own.
This poster serves as a colourful reminder the Shoot for the SSTaRS strategy from Hanen’s ABC and Beyond™ Program, which offers step-by-step guidance for highlighting and deepening children’s understanding of new words.
