As an early childhood educator, you play a critical role in building the foundation children need for reading, writing and school success. At an ABC and Beyond™ Program, you learn how to help children build the specific skills, identified by current research, that prepare them for formal reading and writing instruction. You’ll learn how to give all children in your classroom the best possible opportunities to build these skills, whether they’re developing typically, have a language delay or are second-language learners.

ABC and Beyond is all about creating literacy-rich experiences through incidental, everyday interactions and book reading. You’ll learn how to make the most of your conversations to build early literacy skills in a way that is natural and fun.  ABC and Beyond strategies also deepen your connection with children through more meaningful conversations, as well as boost their confidence to communicate.

At an ABC and Beyond Program, you’ll learn research-based strategies for promoting the following emergent literacy skills, shown to predict academic success:

ABC and Beyond addresses the early literacy needs of all children in early childhood settings ages 3-5, whether they are developing typically, have a language delay or are second-language learners.
