Phonological awareness (the understanding of different ways that oral or spoken language can be broken down into smaller components) has been found to be the strongest predictor of children’s reading and spelling abilities.  By building phonological awareness throughout the day with young children (ages 3—5), adults help to set them on the path to literacy and academic success.  

This poster serves as a colourful reminder of the Listen... and Find One Like It strategy from Hanen’s ABC and Beyond™ Program. This strategy helps educators focus children’s attention on phonological awareness during everyday activities and conversations.
