Overview
A large part of story comprehension involves understanding the underlying structure that supports them. By encouraging young children (ages 3—5) to think about the elements that make up a story, adults help to set the stage for children to understand the stories they’ll eventually read on their own.
This poster serves as a colourful reminder of the CSPAR framework from Hanen’s ABC and Beyond™ Program: Characters, Setting, Problem, Actions, and Resolution. This framework reminds educators to highlight key story structure elements during shared book reading.
