Overview
The ability to use language for thinking and learning is a key early literacy skill that prepares young children for school success. It’s particularly important for reading comprehension as children progress through school and texts become more and more difficult.
This poster serves as a colourful reminder of the E’s and P’s strategy from Hanen’s ABC and Beyond™ Program: Explain, Evaluate, Emotions, Experiences, Predict, Problem-solve, Project and Pretend. This strategy offers eight different ways for educators to engage children to use the language of thinking and learning during book reading.
